Rising Demand for Hair Restoration Surgery
FUE is the leading method of hair restoration and we’ve got the stats to prove it! The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) recently published their Practice Census Results which showed that more people are getting hair transplants and hair restoration surgery than ever before.
The survey questioned 300 physician members of the ISHRS. Results showed that more than half of both male and female patients were aged between 30-49 years old.
The number of surgical hair restoration procedures performed in the US has doubled since 2012 to more than 133,000. This is mainly due to consistently improved restoration techniques and the reduced stigma surrounding hair loss.
Patients are now more willing to travel in order to find a surgeon that fulfils their demand for high quality. Just 20% of members surveyed said that patients were local to their office (within 20 miles). 18% were from a different region and 12% from a different country altogether.
This comes to no surprise to our team at Rejuvenate as we welcome local, national and international clients who come to us from far and wide due to our solid reputation and impressive track record.
The survey also showed that the majority of patients (84.6%) required treatment due to genetic hair loss. Reconstruction and post-cosmetic surgery needs were attributed to 8% and 4% of treatments respectively. Diseases including alopecia, chemotherapy-induced hair loss and post-scar or burn treatments were also causes.
