An increasing number of men in the UK have been seeking Facial Hair Transplants in recent years. Some wish to sport fuller, bushier beards while others struggle to grow facial hair at all and wish to boost their appearance – and confidence – with a transplant. Many of our patients seek facial hair transplants due to patchiness or facial scarring. A beard, moustache and sideburns also make a strong fashion statement, a factor that has been frequently attributed to the rising numbers of transplants.
Facial hair loss takes place for a number of reasons. It might be genetic or a side effect of major surgery. Either way, it can seriously impact the confidence of sufferers.
We use FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) to restore facial hair at all levels. During this minimally invasive procedure, donor hair is taken from the scalp one unit at a time. In the case of balding men, it can also be taken from other body parts such as the chest. Hair is chosen for a similar texture, colour, tone and density to the current or desired facial hair.
The follicular units are then transplanted onto the desired area at the exact angle and direction of natural hair growth. The procedure is almost always completed in one session, with our surgeons using a local anaesthetic to avoid any unnecessary discomfort.
As with other FUE procedures, patients should expect a fast recovery. Once the facial hair has grown, it can be shaved as normal.
All that’s left to do is enjoy the results!
